Glacier National Park never ceases to amaze even the most seasoned landscape photographers. The light show put on my Mother Nature on this particular morning was nothing short of breathtaking. The beauty of the rugged landscape here is so immense I felt compelled to take a series of panoramic photos. This particular panoramic was made from (3) three Canon 1Ds Mark III photos using a 24mm TS lens. While taking this ph
As an artist I am constantly reenergized when viewing the work of others. Artists who print, publish and show their work share a kindred spirit in finding outlets for their passion. This passion not only reveals a subject, a concept, technical expertise or vision it reveals their essence of being. With each viewing of the creative work of an artist you learn a little something about who they are as a person as well a
This photo could sum up the past couple of weeks nicely. Life has been coming at me fast and furious as of late. Taxes, a variety of projects and recently my dog Moe (dressed as Batdog) having some unexplained seizures. All is well with Moe fortunately, but I’m keeping an eye on him. Other than being severely sleep deprived staying up with him late at night… we’re both faring well. The same could be
While mathematics can explain our natural world with complex formulas, the basic principles of geometry can shine through from time to time. Of all my mathematical studies I found geometry the most interesting as it always had an artistic aspect to it that caught my eye. Of course later I found out how literal that interpretation would be as I learned about the Golden Ratio. While hiking through the Marin Headlands I
Back in mid-September I first announced my latest blog photo project “Buying Prints from Your Favorite Photographers“. I have to admit that I was really stoked to kick this project off and was eager to find great artwork by photographers I respect and want to support. Well the task was tough and not for the reasons you’d expect. There are so many great photographers out there that I had a tough time
While in Switzerland I had the good fortune of experiencing peak fall color. Along the way i decided to experiment and really liked how this particular photo came out. This is a straight photo with only a little bump given to the natural colors of the scene. What originally attracted me to the subject in the first place was the color and while I took standard photos of the scene I found this rendering of it captivati
“It’s not a photo until its a print“ One of the unique aspects of digital photography is that we’re now able to enjoy photographic work with out viewing it in printed form. Â More so now than ever before supporting a photographer is shown almost exclusively online through photo forums, blogs, and other online communities. While viewing photographs online is easy and relatively inexpensive it i
Soft lighting filtering through pre-dawn fog provided some interesting photographic opportunities during my last day at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming back in July. This hike was particularly refreshing as numerous photographic subjects seemed to pop out of the landscape. The layering and juxtaposition of foliage caught my eye. This photo has since become one of my favorites from this trip. [tags]nature, photog
