Photo workshops and tours provide a great opportunity for photographers to socialize with other like minded individuals and to learn from more experienced photographers. If that weren’t enough photo workshops or tours always take place in extremely beautiful and photogenic locations. I am finalizing plans for several short workshops and tours for later in the year and was curious what your experiences have been
Curious about geo-tagging or the pros and cons of supporting your local camera store versus online stores? Then you’re in luck that is exactly what is discussed in the recent release of PhotoNetCast. For those of you unaware of PhotoNetCast it is a podcast I’m taking part in with Martin Gommel, Antonio Marques and Brian Auer. It’s worth a listen when you have a chance as are the past epidsodes. Mavericks is always a spectacle to witness, but in 2005 no one had a better view than the Coast Guard. I found it particularly amusing that amid the chaos of the event the Coast Guard found the time to check out the action. I’ve yet to see a repeat of this and I think its unlikely this type of scene will unfold again quite as nicely. Even still every year I return to photograph this event I keep waiting for a
This weekend has been well for lack of a better term miserable. I’ve burned 90% of my weekend trying to figure out what has been causing some very odd behavior on my computer, as noted in my previous post Beware OS X 10.5.3 Bug That Destroys Adobe PSD Files. As we’ve heard over the years a growing vocal minority will be the first to jump on photographers complaining about online image theft stating “Get used to it. You put it online. That’s how it is.” This argument is anything but true and frustrates the hell out of photo
Click to Enlarge This week is going to be a light blogging week for me, for two reasons both of which revolve around things that are broken. First Monday evening I slammed my bare foot into the leg of my dresser smashing my toe. Having broken more than a few bones in my past I knew instantly that it broke. Shortly after the break was confirmed as I felt and heard bones crunching as I gingerly walked around my bedroom
Sunday night I took a few moments to look at my copy of Eliot Porter’s "In Wildness Is the Preservation of the World". For those that are unfamiliar with Eliot Porter he was one of the first photographers focusing on nature and wildlife in color versus black and white. His work has proven to be quite influential inspiring several of today’s iconic wildlife and nature photographers including Art
