A few weeks ago I read about some amazing Crystal Caves discovered in Mexico and was blown away by the photos! (Thanks Raoul via Twitter) This week what little skepticism I had of this story is now gone seeing as how National Geographic is now reporting the discovery as well. Check it out. The first site actually has more photos and larger ones at that. Giant crystal cave in Mexico – Cellar.org Photo Gallery: G
This was the view of Chicago’s skyline as seen through Cloud Gate (AKA the Bean), an often photographed sculpture, in Millenium Park. The beautiful weather lasted only 3-4 hours on this morning and then it turned stormy. The next day the snow and rain closed down Chicago’s O’Hare airport and wreaked havoc with the schedule of thousands of business travelers. Such is life in the big city. [tags]Chica
3710 miles, 4 days at the Social Media Summit, 3 deep dish pizzas, 2GB of images and 1 conference presentation later I’m back home. Chicago was great, but nothing beats being home in San Francisco. Trip photo highlights to be posted soon.

No rubber wheeled vehicles are allowed at any time. This year thousands were in attendance and hundreds took part. My only regret was not finding a Big Wheel in ti
“Depth of field (DOF) is the distance in front of and beyond the subject that appears to be in focus. There is only one distance at which a subject is precisely in focus, but focus falls off gradually on either side of that distance, and there is a region in which the blurring is imperceptible under normal viewing conditions.” – Wikipedia DOF field varies with aperture, from shallow at wide aperture
Another shot of the Bridal Veil Ravens from a slightly different vantage point. As previously noted: “Surely one would think the locals would get tired of the view in Yosemite, but on this very cold morning that didn’t seem to be the case. Perched from a lookout I spied a pair of ravens in a much better position to enjoy the distant view of Bridal Veil Fall. All components of this image have been compressed t
