Few photos have eluded me like this one. After nearly 10 years the stars aligned and I was finally free to photograph the fog blanketing the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco at sunset this past week. What makes this photo so difficult to capture? To name a few things; the weather conditions have to be just right, you have to recognize the conditions as being just right, you have to be in a close proximity to the
Another week has come to an end. If you haven’t noticed by now Friday’s tend to be sunset photo days on the blog. Sunsets usually seem to be the most fitting way to wind down the weekly blog posts. Is it the weekend yet? A quick reminder if you haven’t yet submitted your entry for the “In Your Own Backyard” Photography Blog Project be sure to do so. The deadline is tonight at 11:59PM PST. Tu
Early Wednesday morning I was on dog duty walking my 3 dogs around a local park. When I left the house the neighborhood was shrouded in thick fog. Realizing that there may be a photo opportunity with the fog rolling through the Monterey Pine trees in the park, I went back in the house to get my camera and tripod. Murphy’s Law would have it that as soon as I got to the park the fog started to lift, but just enou
One of the most attractive qualities of Yosemite is that it has so many beautiful facets that have inspired countless artists. If you look hard enough the valley reveals something new and amazing no matter what the season or weather. When photographing the park in the winter the snow often provides a great accent to a scene such as in my photo “Yosemite Valley Snow“. In other instances, like this one, the
I couldn’t help, but post these to photos from this past weekends Icer Air event. I thought these two photos were particularly cool. (I’ll forever resist using the term “sick”). Koji Kraft was really ripping it up on the vert ramp and at the end of Neil Hendrix’s run he flashed a great face. Yesterday was a great day at Icer Air 2007. The ski and snowboard big-air competition was incredibly fun to watch and photograph. I spent my time getting photos of the ski and snowboard big-air competition as well as shooting the activities on the vert ramp. Below are a few samples of photos from Icer Air 2007 and another 64 photos are initially only available at my photo archive. Icer Air 2007 Photo Archive Jumping
This weekend things kickoff at Icer Air 2007 here in San Francisco. World class skiers and snowboarders face off in an extreme sport competition at AT&T Park in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Yesterday I got a chance to take a quick look at the final stages of construction on the main ramp. I think this year the ramp might be even taller than last. Icer Air 2007 starts around 3pm today so if you’re in
A morning view of Yosemite valley from the Tunnel Lookout after an early morning snow. Snow in the valley truly transforms the landscape. Amazing how something so simple can add so much impact.
