As we near Christmas I thought a winter photo might be in order. Taken in Yosemite National Park, earlier in the year, these trees lack the decorations we’ve come to expect around Christmas time, but natures patterns and textures provide their own rich decoration. Although I’m out of pocket at the moment and am on a shoot before the holidays I thought I would wish everyone a Merry Christmas. View More Pho
Monday I took the day off to get out and get some photography under my belt. I was joined by a good friend of mine who introduced me to some new areas to photograph iconic California Oak trees. With conditions nice and foggy it created some beautiful photographic opportunities. I have to admit this portion of the day went a lot smoother than later on when I botched some shots. During this shoot I got several good sho
A sunset view of waves crashing along the coast here in San Francisco. The lighting was quite nice on this particular evening and the back-lighting on the waves caught my interest. Although not the jaw dropping image that my Mavericks surf photos might elicit, I still think this is as equally an interesting subject. Sometimes the simplest things we look past make the most interesting nature photos. [tags]San Francisc
The beautiful thing about California is that there are so many amazing places to take in and photograph sunrise. I’m impartial to nature and landscape subjects such as Yosemite National Park, but even catching sunrise over downtown Los Angeles can be dramatic. I couldn’t decide which sunrise photo to post, so I posted both. Here’s to a beautiful sunrise near you. Yosemite Valley Sunrise View More Ph

This weekend I was back in Los Angeles visiting family and couldn’t help myself in going out to photograph some areas I’ve long been meaning to. Being a little rushed before flying out I forgot to bring freshly charged batteries for my camera. The result was a weekend of shooting on a batteries 1/3rd fully charged and another 1/8th fully charged. Yes, I’m embarrassed to say I fell prey to a variatio
If there is one thing I’ve learned as a photographer it is always check your seconds. Upon first review of a days shoot I’ll almost always pick out the great shots. There’s a caveat to this though… these great shots are usually in line with a preconceived notion of what I wanted to get from the shoot. Coming back to these same photos later allows me to review my work with a fresh perspective.
This photo was taken from a higher vantage point the same day I photographed Out of the Gloom: Golden Gate Bridge and Fog. I wasn’t sure this would come out. The fog was quickly rising, the light was quickly fading and I needed to rush back to my car before the rangers locked a gate restricting auto travel in and out of the area. One thing is for sure time is rarely on the side of a photographer. View More Gold
