Another favorite landscape photo of mine from White Sands National Monument. Taken in the afternoon while storms were forming over the Sacramento mountains. [tags]White Sands National Monument, New Mexico, dune, gypsum, landscape, photo, photograph, thunderhead[/tags]
This is one of my favorite landscape photos. While visiting White Sands National Monument in New Mexico an out of season monsoon rolled through. It transformed the landscape. Walking in the middle of no where with the randomly shifting light something new and amazing seemed to be revealed every few seconds. When I look at this photo I can’t help but be transported back to this moment and get lost in the scene e
Taken back in the day when I was shooting slide film. This was one of the more memorable sunsets I’ve photographed. The rolling hills and golden hue of the Marin Headlands always provide a dramatic view. [tags]Marin, headlands, sunset, photo, California, Golden State, hills[/tags]
In the process of wishing everyone the best for Earth Day I thought the following resource, previously mentioned on my blog, might help others make a difference this coming year. 50 Things You Can Do To Stop Global Warming In addition I thought I would share a favorite aerial photo of mine from this past summer. I’ve taken my fair share of photos of Yosemite valley, but this is the first I’ve attempted taking in Infrared (IR). This was taken just before sunset as the last of a snow storm was clearing through the valley. The valley looks infinitely more dramatic with fresh snow. This beauty was fleeting though and much of this snow melted the following day. It’s no wonder with such fleeting beauty that so many people strive to ca
There’s nothing like seeing Yosemite in the winter. This was taken in 2002, back when I was shooting film. The valley floor was cold enough for the snow to stick around and everything looked amazingly beautiful. In this photo just as the days last light filled the sky and as the penumbra became visible everything turned magically pink. As for tonight I’ll be prepping for another winter excursion to Yosemi
This has been a long time favorite of mine and recently has become a favorite of quite a few others on Flickr via the Explore page. The story behind this image is quite painful. After hiking through 30 miles of the back country of Crater Lake National Park along the Pacific Coast Trail I decided to venture into the crater. A little too sore and with a few too many blisters on my feet I walked down the Cleetwood Cove
