Sunset light falling on the beautiful California coastline at Jug Handle State Natural Reserve just north of Mendocino, California. I snuck this photo in while taking a walk with my wife on our mini-honeymoon a little over 5 years ago. Miraculously I stayed out of the doghouse while taking photos on our hike. With such amazing light falling on the California coastal landscape it was impossible to resist taking a photo for prosperity’s sake.

This is a great photo, and I am very glad you shared it with us. But observing your photo suddenly sparked an interesting thought and I’d love to hear your response: Do you think your home (global location) has an impact on your photographic style?
Perhaps it’s just that the west coast is exotic to me because I reside on (and am familiar most with) the east coast. But I somehow feel that your style is influenced by the locations that are available to you. I wonder how different your style would be if you resided in Pennsylvania, for example.
This is very lovely!

Thanks Sharon. I’m glad you enjoyed the photo. And to think this almost got lost in the library.
Thanks Travis. To your question, This is a bit of a chicken and the egg debate. Your location definitely has an impact on one’s photographic style, but so does film type, camera type, life experience, travel experience, etc. Is one of greater impact than another? My thought is they all mesh together to make the whole. I’m not sure one dictates the other. Location can dictate subject, but style starts and ends in one’s minds eye.
