If you’re ever in Costa Rica I highly recommend visiting the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The highland jungle is often shrouded in clouds and the habitat, landscape and wildlife are incredible. One of the big attractions in this area is the Selvatura Park Zip Line. Their zip line canopy tour provides a means to see the jungle like no other. The 16 or so zip lines travel through and over the jungle canopy. It’s an amazing experience as you wear a harness, helmet, rain jacket and zip through the dense vegetation with mist wetting your face in the warm air. It’s also an amazing sensation to be dwarfed by giant trees and hear the echos of wild birds and monkeys in the process. The finale to the overall experience was traveling across a zip line that is 1 KM in length hundreds of feet above the forest that is already hundreds of feet in height itself. “Amazing” is the only way to describe the location and experience.

wow, amazing is right. I’m not sure I’d have been able to let go long enough to take my camera out and get a photo 😉
Great photo Jim. Looks FUN!
This is a unique and great shot Jim. If I remember correctly, you did this in Hawaii as well. Someday, I’m going to try it. It looks like tons of fun!
@Suzy & @Will Thanks. It was definitely fun to get this photo, but it wasn’t as easy as pulling out a camera to take a quick photo. The photo was mounted on my chest and adjusting it mid-zip wasn’t possible. Lucky for me I had several zip lines to travel across to get a few variations of this. All in all… it was of course still fun.

@Sherri Yup! Maui was the last location I did this. This time around I learned from my past experience making sure to get a vertically framed photos as well. Zip lines are of course fun but be sure to explore ways to properly secure your camera and protect your lens. It’d be really easy to lose or damage a camera and/or lens.
