I don’t know about you, but I had a great weekend. Saturday was my birthday and I got a chance to spend the day out in Monterey, Carmel and Point Lobos. Due to other projects I’ve been rather cooped up as of late so it was very refreshing to get out and hike, see some wildlife and enjoy the day with my wife.
The last time I had a long drought of wildlife encounters it was just before heading to the Arctic. That trip was a bit longer but the feeling after being immersed in the wild was the same…. refreshed. The 2nd or 3rd day into that trip I found this hidden meadow of Arctic Lupine. Waking up early in the morning and settling in to explore the area was meditative. I suppose this exemplifies one of the many reasons why nature and nature photography resonates with me.

Happy belated birthday Jim! This is a beautiful shot of Lupine. I wrote a post recently about the Lupine that grows here locally. You can see it here http://sherrimeyer.com/Blog/?p=534.
They look very similar. But, it looks like the Arctic Lupine grows in the shade. Our California Lupine does quite well in dry, sunny locations. Very interesting comparison!
Very nice photograph really impressive. [edited]
