One of the many reasons I love living in San Francisco is that it’s very dog friendly. For most it might seem that having three dogs (Moe, Curly and Zoe*) would be a bit much for city life, but it hasn’t turned out that way, in fact my neighbor has four. In any case, having a backyard, dog doors, and living near a dog park helps us get through the week. Our weekend activities most always revolve around the dogs and when ever possible I have my camera with me to document their antics. This past weekend the dogs got a chance to run amok at the local dog park, Golden Gate Park and Crissy Field. If it hadn’t been windy we’d have visited Fort Funston as well. As a photographer the great thing about each of these places is that they’re also very scenic. Walking the dogs almost always results in a new view of the city being captured with my camera. Now if only I could get my dogs to carry my camera gear.

The “Dogfather” down by Ghirardelli Square. Clearly he was quite a head turner.

I’m just picturing this tiny little Dachshund weighed down with long telephotos on either side of him. It’s frighteningly cute.
Anything is possible, I guess. This one guy convinced his cat to carry a camera:

Jim,
I just had to comment on this one, as one of the many reasons my husband and I love Auburn (CA), is because it’s so dog friendly! I, too, have been writing about it on the new forum in town, “The Auburn Buzz.”
Our weekends nearly always evolve around our dog too. We hike, canoe, kayak, swim, camp, run, walk, snowshoe, X-C ski and more with our dog. I had better add photograph to that list! Like your dogs, she is in many of my photos.
Recently, we went to Cabo San Lucas and had to leave her. That was really hard!
I was amazed when I learned a few years back, that San Francisco was one of the most “dog friendly” cities in (I believe) the country. Maybe it’s because the gal that wrote “The California Dog Lover’s Companion” lives there.
If you ever visit Auburn, be sure to bring your dogs! There are great swimming holes around and hiking trails!

Thanks for the great comment Sherri. Next time I’m heading out to Auburn I’ll be sure to contact you about must see locations for the dogs.
