Last night at 11:53PM, after 4 months of civily requesting a refund from www.mp4converter.net for their non-functioning MP4 Converter software (MP4 Converter – 3.2.10.0418) , I left a rating on VersionTracker.com warning others to avoid their software and their company. This morning at 5:44AM I received a confirmation email from my podcast hosting company that my account has been closed per my request. The only problem is that I never requested such a cancellation. I suspect foul play due to the close timing of these two events, but will confirm later.
For those looking for an MP4 converter steer clear of mp4converter.net and their products. Their products do not work, their customer support is atrocious and I’m suspecting they operate in an unethical fashion creating mayhem with their unsatisfied customers online properties when they speak out against their scam.
Update: I am currently working with Podbean to determine why and how my account was canceled. Three email and 6 hours later I finally heard back from them to determine what has happened.

Hi Jim,
These guys are major scumbags, who post fake blog entries all over the place to promote their junk products. They do business under MANY different names and domains, to attempt to avoid detection and boost their pagerank.
I’ve been working with the good guys at VersionTracker to try to stop the flood of their daily update postings.
Here’s just a sampling of the many names they use:
– allformp3.com (note the devious spelling)
– alloksoft.com
– aone-soft.com
– avonesoft.com
– brothersoft.com
– cucusoft.com
– dvd-ripper-copy.com
– easiestutils.com
– efreedvd.com
– imtoo.com
– iphonevideoconverters.com
– mp3towav.org
– mp4converter.net
– nidesoft.com
– pqdvd.com
– soft29.com
– tompegx.com
– tansee.com
– topvideopro.com
– winxmedia.net
– wondershare.com
– xilisoft.com
– yasasoft.com
Sorry to hear they got your money. Perhaps your credit card company can help.
Regards,
Mike Evangelist
Dangit, I meant to remove the ‘www’ from in front of that list so they won’t show up here as links. Perhaps you can edit it for me. Sorry.
Mike thanks for confirming that these guys are scammers. Good to know that these other domains are run by the same people. I’ve fixed the domains so they are not links. Hopefully they’ll get busted soon enough.
My husband just got scammed by xilisoft which is on the list. He purchased 2 different software products and never received the registration codes to use it. He had to go purchase similar software so now doesn’t need it and the company won’t refund the money.
I will be contacting our bank. Thanks.
Dana
Dana sorry to hear the news. The people behind this scam need to be put in jail.
I have been trying since April, 2007 to get either a product that works or a refund. I still have received neither.
i should of known, i fell for this a while ago with some ipod site, and now just recently, i fell for it with cucusoft for zune, the only thing is, their program works, it just puts a watermark on any videos i convert, so no i’m $50 in the hole and without any reg-code…DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND SOFTWARE THAT CONVERTS DVD TO ZUNE AND WORKS??? (thats all i really want)
Peter. Sorry to hear about your trouble. but i’d try cucusoft about the problem. Unless you bought it through a different site it should be legit. I’ve been using there dvd-ipod converter for about 8 months now and not one complaint. For a registration code you would of got an e-mail from shareit or something along those lines. you may have missed it.
Cucusoft will not respond.
I purchased a converter from a company claiming to be “Yasasoft.” I was fleeced for $35. Well, for a while, anyway…
I disputed the charge with my card issuer (Bank of America). It was a rather simple process. You dispute the charge and they immediately issue you a credit. They then give the scoundrels 30 days to respond to the complaint. “Yasosoft” never responded. Therefore, the case was resolved and the matter permanently put to rest.
I have asked Bank of America to help me in my mission to strip these criminals of their merchant credit card account. But BoA says they can only monitor their own merchant accounts, not some fictitious company located in Botswana. They said even Visa and Mastercard corporate couldn’t help.
I would recommend adding a meta tag to this page that had something like “Yasasoft scam ripoff” or whatever.
What is most disturbing to me is that most of the shareware sites who distribute the product won’t do anything to police these types of matters. They just keep providing the downloads and the links to downloads and the cycle continues…
Luckily, i had searched about this program that was used to convert WMV to MP4 which i son yasasoft.com. Very much thanks to all those including Mike and Jim for this scam and i beilieve that the person behind this and all other scams should be put to jail or at least fined!
Anyway, is there a website to avoid all these scams and unwanted programs and which has all the lists of scams and unwanted programs such as yasasoft? If so, that would be very useful and in the future i hope that people should be more cautious about downloading any program off the internet. Any questions or commments you would like to discuss with me? Please e-mail me on drkzin1@gmail.com
Thanks

I just purchased the cucusoft to convert movies to my psp. It worked the first time I used it and since has not worked right. I have tried several times to contact their support department and they do not reply. I will be disputing my credit card charges for two reasons. The product is not working and they will not reply. Also it was advertised for $19.95 with a discount code which I applied and they charged me $39.95. I am sure there is a converter out there from a company that has support in this country and not from Au. or some where outside the U.S.
I went to purchase cucosoft’s AVI to VCD DVD MPEG Converter Pro and went to their site to purchase the program. After entering all my personal info and credit card number and checking the product that I wanted, it brought me to another page saying that I never put anything in the checkout cart. After reading all these reviews I am starting to wonder if I got scammed or not.
Well. It has been over 2 years and I am still screwed.
