The past few years there has been a lot of controversy about the Bush administration and other neo-conservative groups twisting scientific reports & findings on Global Warming or as it’s been dumbed down “climate change”.
“The Politics of Science” from the Washington Post
“Bush vs. the Laureates: How Science Became a Partisan Issue” from the NY Times
“Scientists Accuse White House of Distorting Facts” from the NY Times
but what is an interesting development to me as of late is the unearthing of questionable efforts by politically driven think tanks or lobby groups, funded by energy companies, to pay scientists to refute various Global Warming studies. As of late the following blog entry/article caught my eye on this topic…
The $10,000 Question: How a conservative think tank’s foray into climate policy stirred up a media hornet’s nest
The article is fairly neutral in tone or political leaning, but it should prompt everyone to note of the potential for this type back door political distortion. Science is driven by the pursuit of fact through research, so when politics on any level come into play it should raise an alarm.
